Our Story
Aaron Babin – Founder, Babins Land Services
With over 20 years in wildland fire, I started my career with the United States Forest Service in 2006 while earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Ecology and Management from the University of Idaho.
I spent five seasons on the Idaho Panhandle Hotshot Crew as a lead sawyer and saw operations supervisor, tackling steep, hazardous terrain on complex fires nationwide—where safety, precision, and discipline were always priority one.
Later, as a captain on a Type 6 engine, I led crews, managed operations, ensured firefighter safety, and coordinated structure protection and triage during major incidents.
In 2021, I founded a private fire mitigation company in Idaho, specializing in hand thinning, fuels reduction, pile burning, and hazardous tree removal for the State of Idaho and private landowners. I also served as a contract sawyer on active wildfires.
After a family loss, I returned to the Forest Service as a Fuels Technician, planning and executing prescribed burns, administering fuels reduction contracts, operating heavy equipment, and upholding strict safety and environmental standards on federal lands.
Today, through Babins Land Services in North Idaho, I focus on proactive wildland fire mitigation: strategic forest thinning, defensible space creation, prescribed fire planning, and hazardous tree removal. My goal is simple—reduce wildfire risk, protect homes and communities, and promote healthier forests through preparation, risk management, and respect for the land.
If you’re in North Idaho and need expert fuels reduction or fire mitigation services, give me a call. I’d love to help protect your property.
Thanks,
Aaron Babin
